Description
A good Ralph Wood creamware-bodied bullbaiting figure artistically modeled and decorated with color glazes in the classic style of this pottery.
The bull is strikingly portrayed, head bent to the ground, grappling with the attention of the terrier biting at his feet.
The figure is exceptionally well colored in a soft brown, green, tan, and ochre, and as is often the case with Ralph Wood pieces, the hollow base is unglazed.
One of the best examples of its type, a similar figure, is located in the City Museum and Art Gallery Stoke on Trent, England.
