An outstanding and rare English Whieldon style white stoneware salt-glazed tea caddy with impressed expressive decoration of a shrub. The caddy is also impressed with the letter CIA and other impressions too feint to interpret. A similar example is located in the Metropolitan Museum of New York, donated by Carlton Macey in 1934. The early caddy is in exceptionally fine condition from c1745-50.

Description

An outstanding and rare English Whieldon style white stoneware salt-glazed tea caddy with impressed expressive decoration of a shrub. The caddy is also impressed with the letter CIA and other impressions too feint to interpret. A similar example is located in the Metropolitan Museum of New York, donated by Carlton Macey in 1934.

The early caddy is in exceptionally fine condition from c1745-50.
