English pottery rare and imposing figure of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier circa 1790

A rare and compelling pottery good sized hollow-based figure of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier made in Staffordshire in the late 18th century. The figure is expressively modeled seated with two separate front legs with the tail curving around the haunches. It is finely decorated in  "Pratt-type" colors under exceptional pearlware glaze.

Dimensions: 9 inches high

Current Condition: Professional restoration to the nose and hairlines in the base.

Provenance: Previously with Jonathon Horne and from a Collection in the Cotswolds England.
