Description
A rare Staffordshire pottery pearlware version of the famous Pig Tithe group with “Fern bocage fronds” with excellent figurative work and quality enamels the base with engaging swirling modeling and a distinctive red, white, and blue feature denoting the maker as the Patriot Pottery Group.
The bocage is decorated with eight petal flower heads.
A small but interesting addition is the detail given at the raised eyebrow of the shocked and indignant Vicar, who was expecting to receive the pig, but on the condition, the farmer’s wife stated that he also took the baby as part of the Tithe rent.
