Description
A fine and previously unrecorded Staffordshire pottery pearlware glazed and enamel decorated figure of an Indian Elephant modeled astride a stream with flowering bocage with fruit. The shaped base is decorated with flowers and mossy grass. This significant figure is strikingly presented with expressive detail such as, the curling trunk, and the floral and bocage decoration. An exceptionally rare quality figure from the early 19th century.
