A good English creamware body teapot decorated with sponged grey, green, and dark yellow underglaze oxide colors applied with a remarkable transparent lead glaze. The pot can be attributed to Thomas Whieldon of Fenton Vivian Works Staffordshire. The teapot is modeled with a crab-stock handle, and the globular body is decorated with flowing plant stems, leaves, flower heads, and a well-formed rosette on each side. The cover has a flower head finial surrounded by four fern leaves. ( Shards of the cover have been found at the Fenton site of Thomas Whieldon).

Current Condition: Tip of spout and small nibbles at the cover professionally restored.
