Description
A rare and exceptional Agateware lead-glazed dish with three scallop shell forms and a generous crab stock handle.
The underside of the dish with three impressed cockle shells forms at the center, conjoining the three large shells.
The dish is substantial and in remarkable condition, with crisp modeling and an expressive agateware body in the Thomas Whieldon manner.
No other agateware dish of this type appears to have been recorded.
