Description
A delightful pair of pratt-colored figures of cows with male and female attendants and made in Yorkshire in the early 19th century.
The figures are engagingly decorative, the cows with blue sponged dabs and blue dots captured in an ochre circle. The male figure is dressed in a top hat and modeled holding a basket of eggs. His female companion is wearing a bonnet and has a basket of flowers . Also deserving attention are the calf and dog recumbent on the green-topped bases, with classic sponge decorated black, blue, and ochre decoration, a feature associated with the Mexborough Pottery.
