A delftware pottery chopine or miniature ladies' shoe painted in blue and white with a profusion of flowers and leaves. The base shows the initials MB around the date 1718. These charming pieces are symbols of good fortune and were given as tokens of affection. Interestingly this shoe is illustrated in Lipski-Archer, Dated English Delftware on page 413, figure reference 1726.

Dimensions: 3.5 inches high 6.5 inches long

Current Condition: Restored chip at the rim and toe.

Provenance: With Tristram Jellinick London and then private collection USA.
