Description
An unusual earthenware cream jug with a red body decorated with applied white slips of clay which have been hand decorated with numerous child-like images, including a dog, an elf, an owl, a fairy, a clown, a snail, and a winged fair riding a snail. The inside has a light mustard-colored glaze with a brown band. The piece was likely made as a one-off gift for a child. The base has the name BUCKLEY etched into the clay, indicating the Buckley Pottery, located in North Wales, noted for its slipware.
