Description
Two English delftware tiles are finely hand-painted in manganese with two goats in a meadow. The decoration is derived from the etchings by Nicolaes Berchem (Dutch 1620-83).
The tiles have the provenance of the L.L.Lipski Collection.

Dimensions: 5 inches high 5 inches long
Current Condition: Restoration at the top rim on one and a hairline on the other.
Provenance: Lipski Collection, gifted to R.J.Charleston (Keeper of Ceramics at the V and A Museum London) thence by descent).
