This pearlware glazed pottery tankard is exceptionally rare and of remarkable quality. It is a relief molded with hearts, flowers, and butterflies enhanced with beautiful colored enamels. The central cartouch shows Thomas Starling's name, the top rim, "A trifle from Swansea" this is likely a unique example from the Swansea pottery. The tankard is a gem in extraordinary condition with only a minor chip under the handle, which does not warrant restoration.
