Antique Staffordshire pottery bocage figure group of Persuasion early 19th century

This antique Staffordshire pottery bocage type figure group in pearlware is known as PERSUASION and would have been produced at the beginning of the 19th century in Staffordshire. The rather demure female figure is rather contently thinking about the wonderful offer her partner has made to her as he profers a gold ring. A dog indifferently looks into the distance, unaware of the romantic drama unfolding. The figures are exceptionally and crisply modeled and colored, attributed to " The Patriotic Group" the bocage on this piece is especially spectacular.

Dimensions: 8.5 inches high

Current Condition: Two leaves ,brolley handle restored, and some enamels retouched.

Literature: Myrna Schkolne in her book People,Passion,Pastimes and Pleasures Staffordshire figures c1810-35 illustrates a similar figure in Chapter 4 titled Courtship.
