The circular deep-sided earthenware slipware dish has a buff body with a plain rim the calligraphic type slip decoration over a dark brown ground. These dishes were produced as kitchen utility items for baking and known as loaf dishes in the United States. Today they are acknowledged for their spontaneous and unpretentious artistry.
