Description
An exceptional early 19th-century pottery figure of a lion (inspired by the Medici Lion) in silver luster with the rare addition of red enamels at the curled tongue and eyes.
This imposing and striking Lion is modeled standing on an oblong-shaped base and was made in Staffordshire or Yorkshire, England.
There is some loss to the luster, which does not detract as it enhances the visual impact while retaining the integrity of this remarkable figure.
