A fine and exceptionally rare example of a Wedgwood creamware pottery commemorative teapot. The globular body printed in good quality black Sadler and Green prints of Liverpool the portrait titled "Sr G Bridges Rodney Bt Rear Admiral of England," the reverse depicts the naval battle and the defeat of the French off Belle Isle in 1759. The base is impressed WEDGWOOD. The portrait of Rodney was published in April 1780 in Westminster Magazine.
