Pottery figure of a cow and milkmaid in the form of a creamer English c1810

£1475

Dated: 1800 to 1810 Staffordshire otr Yorkshire England

This pottery cow creamer is an exceptional example. The thin wafer-thin base is unusually decorated with green and ochre stripes. The figure of the milkmaid is well detailed. The cow has been hobbled at the back legs to prevent kicking whilst milking; this feature provides extra interest. The well-modeled figure of the cow is sponge decorated with brown and ochre in a very pleasing fashion. The creamer was probably made in Yorkshire or Staffordshire and dates to the early 19th century.
