The pottery pearlware figure with bocage features Dr. Syntax carried by a jolly French female from his ship to Calais' landing beach. A group of figures was produced at the Staffordshire potteries in the 1820's depicting the doctor's exploits on his "tour" derived from the cartoons of Rowlandson inspired by the comical poem by Wm Combe.

Dimensions: 6.5 inches high

Current Condition: Professional restoration to the Doctors legs.
