This earthenware baking or loaf dish is one of the largest made of its type in the mid 18th century period. The dish has a plain edge, the body expertly decorated with a looping trailed creamware slip on a dark brown ground. Made in the Midlands or North England in the 18th century, a similar dish features in Barker and Comptons reference work titledĀ Slipware in theĀ Collection of the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery page 148 figure reference 4342

Current Condition: Good condition with only minor nicks at the rim, there is surface wear to the glaze at the center.
