Early Staffordshire pottery figure of a cat agateware 18th century

One of the Staffordshire potters produced this early English saltglaze stoneware pottery naively modeled figure of a seated cat in the mid 18th century period. The surface simulated faux agateware decoration is an unusual feature as most pieces made from this period were variegated clays. The cat has bulging brown eyes and blue tips to the ears. The press-molded figure is hollow based.  

Dimensions: 5 inches high

Current Condition: Unrestored with only minor historical wear.
