Description
Antique pottery jelly core inner mold in creamware from the workshops of Josiah Wedgwood Staffordshire England. Hand painted flower decoration expertly rendered.
The mold would have originally an outer utility cover in plain earthenware.
The jelly would set on the inner core and be brought to the dining table to be served from. These pieces would have made an impressive display as the floral decoration could have been seen through the jelly ( jello).
These rare pieces are collected today for their unusual and stylish form and wonderful hand painted decoration. There is also a strong interest from culinary and social history collectors.
