An extremely rare pottery money box with the figure of a spotted dog and incised decorations of a bird and flowers together with the name on the body and the slotted top " Mary Veale Hallington 1793" this a gift on her 10th birthday. A label under the base states that Mary Veale was born in 1783 in Newton Devon. She married William Salmon in 1822 in the town of Ossington. Later she became an innkeeper on the High Street in the town of her birth, she died in 1869.
