Oval shaped tureen and cover in white saltglaze stoneware. The base stands on three paw feet with grotesque heads. The classic relief moulding is the mosaic and basket weave pattern. The tureen is an unusually small form, perfectly proportioned. Shards of the distinctive paw feet have been excavated at the old pottery site of Humphrey Palmer's who was located in Hanley c1756-65.
