Staffordshire pottery pearlware bust of one of the pioneers of the Methodist movement Reverend George Whitfield. The reverse of the bust incorporated a circular medallion which reads " THE REVD.GEORGE WHITFIELD,SEPT.30 1770 DIED AGED 56. ENOCH WOOD SCULP.BURSLEM". The modelling of the bust in exceptional and depicts Whitfield's squint perfectly, the attention to detail of his spectacular hair style is another key component of the life-like rendition of this important Methodist preacher.
