Antique English creamware bodied pottery underglaze colours stirrup cup in the form a stags head. Stirrup cups are usually related to fox hunting, the cups associated with stag hunting are very rare. This stirrup cup is of special interest as it is almost certainly the work of the master pottery Thomas Whieldon. The condition is exceptionally fine with interesting attention to detail such as the green coloured crown also with a feathered feature, the rim is indented with small circles a device often used by Thomas Whieldon. This example is one of the earliest cups made in pottery in England and dates 1760/70 period.

Dimensions: 5 inches high, 3.5 inches wide, 4.5 inches long

Current Condition: Tip of one ear restored and small glaze chip at cheek.
