Description
A fine antique Staffordshire Pottery jug with a relief portrait imageof Wellington.
Interestingly the portrait is titled EARL WELLINGTON a rare and unusual feature on this commemorative piece. The piece can be dated very precisely to the first nine months of 1812. He was made an Earl after the fall of Ciudad Rodrigo in January of that year and then after successive victories at Badajoz and Salamanca he entered Madrid and was promoted to Marquis.
