Description
A very fine English pottery figure group in the form of a cow creamer. This figure is a rare form with a calf lying down on the base and a wonderful bocage feature as a decorative backdrop to the scene. The figure is exceptionally well modeled with strong relief decoration and fine underglaze colours denoting an early date in the making.
The application of flowers is also an interesting feature on the piece which uniquely has one applied under the base as well as to the original cover.
One of the best quality cow creamers made.
The figure dates to the late 18th century and is Staffordshire or possibly Yorkshire manufacture.
