An extremely rare English creamware pottery teapot with an image and script Queen Charlotte. Charlotte (of Mecklenburg-Strelitz) was the German wife of King George III (also German). She was Queen of Great Britain and Ireland from their marriage until the union of the two kingdoms in 1801, after which she was Queen of the United Kingdom.Queen Charlotte gave birth to 15 children and died in 1818. As princess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Charlotte was descended directly from an African branch of the Portuguese Royal House and she is often sighted as Englands first Black Queen. Queen Charlotte is still celebrated in her namesake American city where she is commemorated with two bronze sculptures.
