A rare and large size William Greatbach creamware teapot and cover circa 1770/82. Classic cylindrical shape, an "ear" shaped handle and pierced globular finial,printed in red.The pot is decorated with enamel colours "The Fortune Teller". The reverse of the teapot has a transfer and enamel decorated print of the Seven Houses of Heaven. An extra interesting feature is the decoration on the cover of the sun, moon and stars. A fine example from one of the founding fathers of Staffordshire pottery. The print is signed William Greatbach and dated 1770.
