Antique period English pottery delftware possett pot with cover.
The pot is profusely decorated in underglaze blue with foliage and birds.
Possett pots were handed down from generation to generation are were often prized family heirlooms. They were used during times of sickness when a brew of eggs,and wine or other alcholic drink were mixed together to form a “Possett”.
The drink would be warmed and sipped through the spout, the closest drink to possett would be egg nog.
