A rare Staffordshire pottery pearlware glazed half-bust distinctive figure on a shaped social base of George Washington. The figure has an applied lozenge on the back with the dates of his birth, 1732, and his death in 1799. It is also impressed with the maker's mark, Enoch Wood, the date 1818, and an eagle wings unfurled above a banner. Similar examples of this figure are located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Winterthur Museum in Delaware.

Current Condition: Good condition with no restorations.

Provenance: Private English Collection retains the label of The Richards Collection.
