This Staffordshire large-scale pottery bust of Sir Francis Burdett is pearlware glazed and decorated in overglaze enamels. The half-bust figure sits on a faux marbled socle, with the initials in black capitalĀ  S.F.B on the square-shaped base. Elegantly modeled and decorated the image full of character and compelling presence. Burdett was an English politician, a popular figure with the public and a zealous and courageous advocate of electoral reform who more than once endured imprisonment for his radical views.
