This Staffordshire Pottery pearlware glazed figure depicts John Liston, a famous and popular comedian dressed as a Broom Girl. The base is titled BY A BROOM in impressed black capitals. The figure is one of the best examples of its type with well-applied quality enamels. Liston and Madam Vestris performed the song " Buy a Broom" together at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket London, to great acclaim. Similar figures are in the Victoria and Albert Museum  London and the Potteries Museum  Stoke upon Trent Museum.  

Dimensions: 7 inches high

Current Condition: Restored to arm and hand.
