This fine creamware pottery teapot, naturalistically formed cauliflower-shaped, was made at the William Greatbatch Pottery and is one of the best examples of its type. The teapot was exhibited at the Boston Public Library, Massachusetts, in 1973. Similar pieces are located in several international museums, such as the Mint Museum in Charlotte and the British Museum in London. Greatbatch, along with Whieldon and Wedgwood, was one of the early fathers of British Ceramics.

Dimensions: 4.75 inches high

Current Condition: Good conditon with only minor signs of wear commensurate with age.

Provenance: Label attached The Lomax Collection, previously with the Harriet Carlton Goldweitz Collection (Sotheby's New York 2006) and then Stanley F.Goldfein Collection.

Literature: David Barker, William Greatbatch a Staffordshire Potter published by Jonathan Horne 1991. Plate XXIII illustrates an identical form which is located in the National Museum on Merseyside Liverpool.
