A fine green glaze bust of King George 111 with a socle base Staffordshire pottery . The square stand is decorated with acanthus leaves in relief. This rare figure was probably made at the time of one of his recoveries from his illness around 1789. The traditional view is the King  suffered  from a  hereditary disorder called porphyria however, research has indicated this may not be the case and a more accurate diagnosis would be  bipolar disorder .
