A pottery money box formed as a house and flanked by male and female figures, with heads popping out of the upstairs windows representing the family at home. The box is decorated in the classic " Prattware palette" and the traditional style of The Mexborough Pottery Yorkshire. There is a wide slot at the back of the roof for the coins. These naive and charming banks were often given as gifts to encourage thrift among the young.    

Dimensions: 5 inches high

Current Condition: Minor restoration to the chimney pot.

Provenance: Private Collection in the Channel Island . Then with a gentleman collector in the Home Counties
