A fine Napoleon Bonaparte pottery but with a pearlware glaze, good enamel coloring modelled on a socle shaped base. Staffordshire Pottery antique period early 19th century England. Napoleon commanded much respect and interest in Britian. His fame as one of the greatest military commanders of the period and the fact that he rose from a humble background further enhanced his appeal despite the fact he was an enemy util his defeat at Waterloo in 1815. Figures of Napoleon continued to be produced in Staffordshire until the mid 19th century and were one of the most popular figures produced.
