Description
A fine example of a Prattware pottery tobacco box or tobacco jar.
The relief moulding decoration of a tavern scene and a Chinoserie scene on the other side is very cris denoting an early example of this tobacco box. Later examples have usually lost their crisp defintion and are painted in a much cruder way. Happy to say that this piece is presented with exceptional colouring and attention to detail making it one of the best examples of its type. The extra special feature on this box is the lid which as a wonderful figure perched on top , he appears to be suffering a hangover.
